The following tips can reduce daily stress and fatigue on your body, and at the same time, make your home a safer and easier place to live. 1. Carry groceries and other bundles in light weight canvas bags to prevent slippage. Carry bundles with your forearms to prevent stress on wrists and fingers. 2. Make one side of the bed before moving on to the other side. To prevent stress on wrists and fingers, pull up sheets and leave loose on either side of the bed. Use a light weight ,long spread to cover untucked sheets. 3. To turn faucets on and off keep fingers straight and use the palm of your hand. If you replace your faucets, replace them with levers as they reduce strain on the hands. 4. Put trash can on a small pedestal to lessen back strain on having to bend over to empty contents and line the trash can with a new bag. When lining your garbage can with fresh plastic bags, put extra bags in the bottom. When you remove the full trash can bag, you will have another at your fingertips to replace it. 5. Use a reaching tool to remove laundry from your clothes dryer. It will prevent back strain. 6. When shelving items, store heavy items on center shelves and light objects on high or lower shelves. Pick objects off of shelves with both hands. Simplifying daily tasks reduces fatigue and stress on your body enabling you to have more energy and time to enjoy activities with family and friends.
